Friday, June 22nd at 7:00 PM
Saturday, June 23 at 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM
Admission is reasonable at $5, and helps promote further performances and growth of Pepperell Community Arts (click here for link to the PCA website).
Stacey Thompson, PCA President, provided the following description of the production:
“James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim take everyone’s favorite storybook characters and bring them together for a timeless, yet relevant, piece… and a rare modern classic.
“The story follows a Baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King’s Festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk.
“When the Baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a Witch’s curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse. Everyone’s wish is granted, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later with disastrous results.”
PCA is doing a modern version of this fairy-tale classic. If desired, patrons are encouraged to watch a traditional version of “Into the Woods” before attending (a film version is available on Netflix).
This thought-provoking show has wonderful music and is ideal for older teens and adults.
(Some elements may be too intense for very young children, including some deaths and innuendo. However, the show also provides an opportunity to discuss timely issues as a family).
