BOH to Hold Special Workshop Meeting Thursday Afternoon For Gravel Pit Fill Regulations.

Wednesday, August 1, 2018

Pepperell, Massachusetts – The board of health posted a notice for a special meeting/workshop on earth filling regulations, which will be held tomorrow afternoon, Thursday, August 2, 2018, in Conference Room A at the Town Hall.

Board of health members had been requested by residents for several weeks to create a set of earth filling regulations, to address potential problems associated with a proposed gravel pit reclamation project.

The project could bring over 50,000 trailer truckloads of excess fill from construction sites in New England, and dump the fill at a 50 acre site on Nashua Road.

Other Massachusetts communities, such as Ashby, have created earth filling by-laws and regulations during the past few years.

On Saturday, selectwoman Lisa Ferolito wrote to each of the board of health members asking them, if they had not already done so, to write a set of regulations.

There was no announcement The Candle could find further describing the newly scheduled meeting other than the agenda for the meeting on the town’s official website – which was posted on Tuesday Morning.
