New Mexico Foundation For Open Government Press Release

Albuquerque, N.M. – The New Mexico Foundation for Open Government (FOG) is encouraging state senators and representatives to participate in an email survey in the areas of transparency. modernization and accountability.

The survey will be conducted via email sent to each legislator.

“As lawmakers weigh major changes in how they will conduct business for future New Mexicans, now is the time to gather and release as much information as possible on where they stand on such important issues as transparency and its role in the Legislature’s future structure,” Melanie J. Majors, executive director of the FOG, said.  “The results of the survey will be made public in order to provide New Mexicans with information on where each Legislator stands on important open government issues.”

FOG will share the results on its website, through social media and with New Mexico news outlets.  If a lawmaker does not respond to the survey, this information will also be included in the results and shared.

As the state’s leading advocate for transparency in government, FOG’s mission is to defend the public’s right to know and to educate citizens and government agencies about their rights and responsibilities under New Mexico’s open-meetings and open-records laws. FOG was incorporated in 1989 and as a tax-exempt is a 501(c) nonprofit, nonpartisan organization.

Questions about this survey, should be directed to FOG at info@nmfog.org or 505-764-3750.
